good cinematix story is okey, i know it from other games, driving on wasd its okey. upgrading cars is from the crew motorfest, it looks like.

storyline is very much different, still based on a revenge arc but still, found myself loving every aspect of the game, nice soundtrack, surprisingly good gimmicks and concepts too, love the map and the empty vibes it gives too

I loved this game when i was younger and still think it is a really good racing game, especially for people who are new to racing games

Recommended for NFS fans. Great game.
The only drawback is the multiplayer matchmaking for ranked speedlist nowadays. For whoever is seeking for 100% achievement, this is the problem.

The game isn't bad but of all the modern NFS games it's the worst. The asphalt driving and drifting are good and the story is serviceable (the action-packed missions are funny, at least) but that's it. The player has barely any agency in anything since everything in the progression systems are else random (speed cards, shipments) else have little to no value (reputation). There's literally no incentive not to blaze through the required story and grind the race you just finished so you can get some upgrades for your car hoping you're lucky because every race requires a better performance stat than the previous one but the speed card you got might just be a crap one. Else you gotta buy some based on a rotating selection or gamble with a slot machine with a limited currency. All the cars are pre-built with some tuning based on where you acquire them so again, the player has no agency. You run a race, you equip the speed card, try the next race and if you're too short, you replay the previous once until you're upgraded enough. While the asphalt racing and drifting are good and what you can expect from a NFS title, the offroad racing is truly terrible and the drag races are for half of them... not drag racing but sprints or circuit races, but since you're locked with your drag car, it can't handle corners or it will just wheelie as you throttle it. Not a bad game but Heat is miles better (despite Payback's chases being more fun and less frustrating!) and if you can grasp 2015's handling, it's also better.

Pros:
Bought Payback for a like 5 bucks. For that amount its a fine buy. You get a nice looking racing game with nice visual tuning options. Cars drive very different, from a tank to a nimble hummingbird. The little mini-quests while you drive through the world feel very engaging (better than the story). Quite challenging on hard mode. Needed endgame car with quite some tries to win vs Nova.

Cons:
Cops are rubber band even normal cruisers catch you at 400 km/h, Cops all feel the same (except the EMP ones), Disabling cops is hard, overall Cops and pursuits are always just an annoyance in comparison to the OG Most Wanted where they were great fun.
The performance tuning is some card rolling gambling bs. Feels lame and overly complicated. Just let me buy what I want to put in the car. When you buy an earlygame car in lategame you cant equip it with your current level of stuff. Needs separate leveling. Also all the leveling is intransparent so you never know where you are and how far to the next level up in parts.
Then you also need separate cars for every racing type. But you barely get money and leveling up takes forever so all of that pretty much just makes you stick to your early game car for a long time.
The story is the worst ever. Would have been better to just skip the story and just let you drive the races. Also lots of bad/flat voice actors.

Overall: 4/10 = barely not recommend

Revenge tale with good car tunes, but ending ditches the house plot : ) glitches aside

This is the game I was looking for! I spent years, YEARS!! looking for a racing game that had progression and a decent story. This. This is it.
You see, my first racing game I ever played was midnight club. To me, it was perfect. Great soundtrack and a zero to hero car progression. I felt like I was getting better with each race. Getting better and better until I beat it. It was thrilling and I will always remember it fondly. After all these years, no racing game would ever compare to it. Until I played this.
This had characters! Personalities different from my own.
This had cars. Started off slow and clunky. Would tune it up and got faster, turned better, I felt I was improving along with my cars.
That's what I always wanted Forza. A story that was interesting and cars that got better as I got better. Not the shower of cars that forza gave me or the 1st place metals forza kept showering on me before I even started to race. Not 100 cars that all basically played the same. No no.
Anyway...good game. Much fun. Yay!
