A pretty decent and really fun experience in multiplayer. Not at the same level as DiRT rally or Assetto Corsa when it comes to realism and simulation, but it did its job of keeping me interested in the multiplayer theme.

A good online, casual racing game with solid out of the box controller support, though stability issues and lackluster single player degrade the experience somewhat. The car upgrade and tuning system is approachable enough for most players while remaining nuanced enough to be a worthwhile mechanic. Car models and tracks are beautiful, and driving gameplay feels very good. This is _not_ a full-fledged racing sim, but it is focused enough to be fun for those seeking a more entertainment-oriented challenge.

Cons:
- The community of players isn't great. People often ram in this game despite the behavioral matchmaking system, and there is little de-facto recourse for bad behavior.
- Matchmaking often fails to connect to game servers, and crashes to desktop are not unheard of when joining a lobby.
- The "featured races" often feel like heavy-handed advertisements for car manufacturers.
- UX can be frustrating. You'll expend an awful lot of energy clicking through unintuitive menus.
- Single player isn't worth your time, per an uninspiring format and poor quality computer-controlled opponents.

Overall a positive experience despite some flaws. Worth the purchase, assuming you intend to play primarily online.

It's alright
The physics are good, and the car and track selection is fine enough, when it comes to the act of driving itself, it's great, and the multiplayer is the best part of the game, as it's super easy to just hop into a new race and have some fun.

The main cons are:
-An at times shoddy penalty system (in combination with terrible sportsmanship by your fellow racers).
-Lackluster and repetitive single player content, that is a deal breaker if you're not getting this game for the multiplayer
-Soulless when it comes to presentation, feels very, uh, 'corporate' I guess.
-UX is sometimes not very intuitive, and requires you to hop through multiple menus and dialog boxes just to accomplish a simple task.

I love a sim racing game but since selling my wheel and rig this is the best one I've played. What I mean by this is if you have a wheel there are many, many games better than this but stuck with an Xbox pad... Well I've not found a game that feels better on a pad than this, maybe Gran Turismo but that is stuck on the Playstation so on steam this is the best I've found sim wise.

Game is still fun but i wish they would put in some more effort.
They say the game was build from the ground up, but i guess they started building in the basement and haven't reached the 1st floor yet.
I wish they would fix stuff like curbstones that are not there IRL.

YES, people YES, I’m recommending this game! BUT HOLD ON… there’s a catch!

Even though I’ve given it a thumbs-up, let me explain why, because it’s not that simple.

First off, the graphics in this game are stunning. The cars and tracks look unbelievably realistic like you’re watching real life on your screen. And with a massive selection of vehicles (plus optional DLCs for even more), it’s a car lover’s dream. That alone is why I’m shouting “YES!” from the rooftops. The visuals are just that good.

BUT here’s the big BUT: Despite being labeled a “simulator,” this game leans way more into arcade style driving. If you’re expecting a true to life racing experience, you’ll be disappointed, I’ve played other sims that nail realism far better.

So, final verdict:

Hardcore sim fans? This won’t cut it.

Casual players who want eye candy and fun, arcadey driving? This might be your perfect match!

Despite almost 200 hours in, I'd say unless you REALLY like cars this isn't a good way to spend your time.

Even after a year of updates, a lot of features are questionably lacking and unless you solely do multiplayer races (which I don't) the game will be very stale and boring. The game seems to be running well now at least.

The only reason I kept playing is that the driving itself is enjoyable and I can have fun doing hot laps on my own, I just have to endure a plethora of inconveniences that will add up over time. Take for example - the economy. The stupid car point system is now mostly done away with thankfully, but the game is still incredibly stingy with money despite being in a franchise known for letting you take any cars and experiment with building them in different ways. All career races will be paced so that they last around 8-10 minutes, regardless of the track and car division. This result in races feeling very monotonous and boring, and the physics defying AI is still in full effect - turning every race into frantically trying to catch the leading car within the first lap else you will have no chance.

The UI is also strange in many ways, examples include: To change the colour of your car, you have to go into at least five menus to finally see the colours, all picture of player designs are saved with vehicle looking stock so for vehicles with body options the only way to know if it'll fit is to download it and see for yourself, the exhaust upgrade changes the sound but there is no way to preview it in the upgrade menu - you have to load into the race and drive to hear it (which is strange considering it's a feature from FH5 but you can preview the sound in garage in that game), and on that topic - when starting a race even if you skip the beginning cutscene you still have to sit around for about 5 seconds for the camera to finish panning around your car which will add up if you're the type to upgrade the car and go back and forth around between upgrade menu and the track often.

Also, do you like Fear of Missing Out? This game loves it. It was bad in Horizon 5 and it's not any better here. When new cars are added to the game, at least half of them will be in monthly reward from challenge hub. If you miss that window, it's gone forever.

All the issues I mentioned are pretty small but they compound into a tedious and frustrating experience, which is a shame since as I mentioned, the driving itself is fun. I still have fun doing laps around the Nordschleife but the game could've been so much better.

Forza Motorsport is a solid alternative for GT7 (but for PC), at launch it had it's problems but it's been improving for more than a year.

The career is meh but the feature races in career makes it more tolerable and earning cars as well. The cars are great, physics are sim-cadey and accessible for controller and wheel (even with a shifter), the multiplayer is so fun (better with friends) especially the featured gamemodes and it's quite active since it's cross-platform. The graphics is amazing and diverse in settings, can get a solid 60 fps from a low-end pc and still look good. The AI is a hit or a miss and the penalty system can be accurate MOST of the time but it shouldn't bother you that much. I personally like the feature nonetheless since it makes it fair if other players cut or hit you. Also there's cars you can get/earn for a limited time every month and can flex them in multiplayer like the BMW GT3 or Toyota Yaris.

The upgrades/tuning for your car is pretty good and the customization is good too (previous titles are better though). The vibes and music is slightly better than FM7 and the showroom/inspecting car feature where you can see the interior is similar to GT7.

And also don’t let the reviews turn you away from it and I highly recommend getting it when it’s on sale for more than 50% off or get the xbox gamepass to try it out. Bought the premium edition for all the extra cars and dlcs. 50 hours in and still having fun with it. Overall it is a great track racer game for this era with a progressive system and easy to access multiplayer.
