You will die. A lot.

The combat is pretty smooth once get the timing of the enemies and combos down, but it's really frustrating to learn, since you can just get a game over for dying too much and have to replay the whole level. It's a solid option if you want to pay for a game to have your ass kicked.

Also **** Kuroki and Jinfeng, they're annoying as hell.

TLDR: If you stick to the default controls, it might be a good game, if you want to remap anything... well... just don't.

I was quite excited to try the game. I liked the art style, the idea and even though I knew I would probably not be good at it I was still excited. After playing the intro, before even starting the first level, the game got me to quit, due to the s**tshow that is remapping controls.
All I wanted was to change the dodge button. Which I could, but that left the interact button empty. So I assigned it to the button that was previously dodge. So far so good... Except now the directional throw button (combination) was also empty. So I tried to rectify that, but setting a button combination in Sifu is not intuitive: you'd think you'd have to press both buttons at once (like you do in the game). That is not so: instead you first fill one button slot and then select and assign the second button separately. After I finally figured that out, it just went from annoying to impossible: setting the first button of the button combination would invariably delete that button from the action it was being used currently (e.g. dodge), even though it shouldn't because what I was trying to set there was the button combination, not the single button. And when I then set the single button for the action it was just deleted from that would in turn remove both buttons from the button combination again! I tried it multiple times, with different combos, but in the end I just uninstalled and requested a refund. If remapping controls is not properly possible, better don't offer the option at all...
Well, for me this is the end of my short journey with this game. Guess I won't find out how bad I'm at it because this already was just too ridiculous for me. For anyone sticking to the default controls and actually getting to play the game it might be great, but if you want to remap anything, well, I wish you more luck than I had.

Sifu doesn’t just test your reflexes—it tests your resolve. It throws you into beautifully choreographed chaos, where each punch must be earned, and every misstep leaves a scar. But the pain? It’s never wasted. This is a game where failure teaches, and training is its own quiet reward.

The combat is precise, punishing, but never unfair. You learn, adapt, and return—not just stronger, but wiser. Every hallway, every enemy, becomes a new page in your martial story. And it’s a story you don’t just play—you live it.

But beneath the elegance of kung-fu cinema and tight gameplay lies something deeper: time. With every death, you age. Grow older, stronger… and yet closer to the inevitable end. It’s a mechanic, yes—but also a meditation. How many years are you willing to spend chasing vengeance? And what do you lose along the way?

Sifu is about revenge. But it also gently asks: What if forgiveness is the truer victory? What if letting go makes you whole?

It’s not just a fighting game. It’s a quiet, brutal question: Can you master yourself before time masters you?

This game pulls no punches. You will die a lot, and the aging mechanic turns each death into a lesson.
The precision/timing gamplay makes combat hard to get bored of.
A bit too short, but very replayable.

I think its overrated. I found the combat repetitive and not that fun. Skill tree didnt look interesting either. Even when watching no-hit playthroughs, to me the game just doesn't look fun. I do like elden ring, ds3, also hard games but very fun and satisfying combat with much better visuals and boss fights.

You should at least try it if you're really into the theme. I couldn't get into that either, the way this dude fights bare-handed and with weapons just seems unpractical or just unfamiliar. So i couldn't really get into it since its supposed to be a bit realistic.

I was interested to start with because ive played ab solver over the years so keep their last game in mind when you play this . The mechanics are improved by a decent amount as well as game play. The camera is janky as with their last game with minor improvements and the grind is fierce . If you want to keep going you can as long as you are willing to age. There are some moments where can subtract years but its is not a lot. So you play a level and do fine but at its maximum age not so well. This mechanic is interesting and annoying especially in boss fight where you will probably lose the first time. Overall the game is enjoyable with some cavets being camera , jank and grid. I do want to see what this developer does next because this a good step for them. I would personally wait for a sale on this one but its still a good one to try.

The Game is great but the camera is so fucking bad and the only bad thing about the game. Its fine in open areas but anywhere indoors and it becomes a nightmare.

Easily best hand to hand combat of any game ever.

10/10 - Controls. If you play Soulsborne games just switch the attack buttons to right trigger and shoulder, dodge to b and remap anything else to make it more souls like in terms of controls
8/10 - Story. Really cool just nothing Last of Us level
10/10 Gameplay. Genuinely amazing. Everything is super responsive and smooth. Every death and win feels earned. Combat feels weighty and satisfying, which adds to the addictive nature of it. THE Sekiro of hand to hand. Combat is probably akin to or better than Lies of P and SLIGHTLY below Sekiro because of enemy variety.
9/10 Bosses. The bosses are phenomenal, but at times feel a LITTLE cheap but it's legit 1/10 times. Their designs and movesets though are so sick, especially the last one. I'd put the final boss over a number of other games' bosses.
1000/10 Cool Factor. Legit feels like how it looks. Made me think about taking up martial arts again (if America wasn't in the worst economic state rn)

Amazing game for living out martial art fantasies. Sifu 2 better come out one day.
