It was fun, a classic through and through. I have played it years ago when I was a kid but replaying it kinda made me realize that theres a little bit more bugs than I initially thought. Also the driving, the driving in this game is a stall tactic for the devs to make people play the game for longer. The story on its own is like 3 hours tops however the devs make you drive for 30 mins before and after every mission, alot of stall and towards the end I just wanted to get the last mission over with. But still a classic and a must play. Be ready to drive for 6 out of the 9 hours you play the game.

If you compare it to the original Mafia II you can really see the difference in graphics, it really got better. But if you played it years ago and want to walk through it again, you wont notice the difference

Great Atmosphere, a well-written story and memorable characters, what else do you need

In short, get it on sale.
This game was great and is still quite alright.
The graphics are very outdated, they should've given this game the same treatment as Mafia 1 (Mafia Definitive Edition looks really amazing).
There are some bugs, a lot of which were present in the original game too.
But the story is fun and the gameplay is alright.
Playing through the Trilogy again is definitely a lot of fun.

Decent story, but the gameplay feels outdated and the remaster lacks polish. Not as impressive as Mafia: Definitive Edition.

Buggy mess, avoid it like a plague, you're better of with classic.

A stellar story told in a very cinematic style makes this game shine bright, it's actually just the remastered version of the classic Mafia 2 game but it looks good for its (original) age and it's fun to play.
Apart from the story what makes it shine is that every mission is different from the other and there is no "filler" missions, so that you enjoy the ride from the first to the last second of it. DLC's are weaker and can mostly be avoided.
This remastered version had several technical issues when it came out and well, some are still there sadly, but the only really annoying thing is that there is no manual save and the automatic one doesn't act too often during a mission and if you think "i'll finish it next session" you might have to redo a part of it.
If you like old school quality stories this is a MUST. And despite the 2010 textures, Vito is absolutely handsome :)

worse than the original game, a lot of bugs and bad optimization.
Takes slow and ended abruptly
To start with, I did not played the original as a kid and this is my first time playing this game that was originally released on 2010.
This game did not resonated with me as much as Mafia 1 did. I felt that the story takes a little bit slow and when it builds up, it then ended abruptly and it felt somewhat random. Vito's story was okay and I like his character, a typical mobster. It felt off especially on the events of his family, they are somewhat random and are there just to make a drama
(Excluding what happened to his mother when he was in a "place". I think the timing was written well)
.
I had no issues with the graphics, the music/audio, gameplay/mechanics, the missions. All are enjoyable. I also liked how detailed the game is especially on the small things. I also loved the time period the game sets in, from the classic songs, cars, lifestyle.
Overall, I think Vito's story is not as good as Tommy's on Mafia 1 as Tommy has more at stake than Vito. I played it for the drama and story of a small time mobster to his terrible life choices and how it ends and sadly it felt lacking (I also thought that maybe all would be explored on Mafia 3). I'd still recommend the game though.

Listen. I didn't just play Mafia II: Definitive Edition – I lived it. I felt every tedious stroll to a black car in the rain, every jazz song on the radio, every poor choice Vito and Joe made like they were mine. And for real? I'd do it all over again.
Indeed, the "Definitive" label is ironic – really more like "Rather More Sparkly Version with Frequent Glitches" – but come on: you don't play Mafia II for bug-free graphics. You play it for the suits, the cursing, and the soul-wracking betrayals to sax solo music.
Being one of the fans of all the Mafia games like they're part of my former gang, this one's mine. It's smoother than a Tommy gun in a violin case, and Vito? Vito's the kind of bloke you find yourself cheering for even when he's making obviously decisions that are going to amount to fire and screaming down the line.
"Know, the one thing that means anything is the people you can trust." – Vito Scaletta
…which is what I kept telling myself before trusting Joe once more. Spoiler: I bawled.
Brief and to the point:
Shootouts? Uh-huh.
Retro tunes? Glorious.
Emotional trauma in a 3-piece suit? Absolutely.
10/10 would get whacked once more.
