WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike, action RPG set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, plagued with warring factions and a mysterious illness spawning monstrous creatures.

Become Wuchang, a skilled pirate warrior struck by amnesia, who must navigate the uncertainties of her mysterious past while afflicted by the horrific Feathering disease. Explore the depths of Shu, enhancing your arsenal and mastering new skills harvested from fallen foes. Evolve your fighting style by sacrificing elusive Red Mercury and further develop new techniques obtained throughout your action-packed journey. Augment the weapons in your repertoire with powerful enchantments, allowing for a unique approach to combat and strategy that suits your personal style.

Battle against grotesque abominations, drawing on ancient lore to challenge the creeping darkness that threatens the humanity that remains. Your quest for truth will take you through forgotten temples, overgrown ruins, and shadowed paths fraught with peril. As you piece together Wuchang's lost memories, your choices will lead you to one of several endings—each determined by the choices made, secrets unearthed and the allies you choose to trust.

Immerse yourself in a rich storyline, dynamic combat system, and breathtaking visuals that offer an unforgettable adventure through lands veiled in chaos and death. Will you reveal the truths of Wuchang's curse and bring peace to Shu, or will you succumb to the encroaching horrors? The fate of the land rests in your hands.

Definitely recommend this game if you’re a fan of the soulslike genre. It has stunning visuals, an amazing soundtrack, and combat that feels rewarding and fresh.

There is also much-needed improvements to the soulslike genre that Wuchang did. For example, once a certain weapon type is upgraded, you can use any weapon within that branch at the same upgrade level.

Respeccing is free, so you can experiment with different builds much more freely. The only thing that could truly make it perfect would be the ability to save loadouts. Right now, every time you want to try a different build, you have to redistribute all your level points from scratch.

Another gripe I had is that while the game gives you a ton of different items to use in the world, you only get 4 inventory slots to actually equip them. That feels far too limiting.

Lastly, some people complain about the story changes after the 1.5 update. Honestly, just ignore the noise—the core message of the game is still the same.

Gameplay and story is good. What sucks is the censorship that affected the global entirely. They should've just censored only in China...

Well worth the money considering amount of content and quality of game. This is not a game you spend $60 on and finish in a week.
It can be a little hard to fall in love with at first but i really think it is worth a chance.

this game has some of the most satisfying boss fights i have ever played. They can be very challenging at first but after a few tries you make progress and maybe some build changes and then you succeed.

This games dodge is amazing, it really flows with the combat/combos which is what makes the fighting so entertaining for me.

The level design is very original and easy to get turned around in... you really get a good sense of exploring, and the time spent in between bosses is far from boring.
Also, there are lots of optional 'boss' fights and there are many different paths through the game...
The world is not as open as something like Elden Ring but there are as many paths to the end as any other game.

Really enjoyed this and will continue to do so, Play it

Have you ever played Dark souls 1 and had that sense of adventure, exploration, wonder, and fear of losing progress made(EXP/Souls)? Then this game has you covered. It is gorgeous, fun, challenging, and rewarding in game-play.

I love this game, but man does it suck with weapon choices for two bosses in particular. I can sing praises here and there about its level design, enemies, weapons, armour, sexy MC, but this game lies a terrible truth: You aren't playing like the devs want you to be.
What I mean is, if you aren't playing long sword, good luck pal, and what I mean by this is: 2 bosses will road block you if you don't learn this mechanic.

Besides for those two bosses (If you know then you know) then I would highly recomend this game :D

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is as close as you can get to a top tier classic Soulslike, yet its outstanding combat system pushes it even further. What truly sets it apart is the lore—ancient Shu culture reimagined and fused with dark mythologies—deep, intriguing, and worth experiencing even across multiple New Game Plus runs.

This game was decent. Although I always felt like Wuchang was in hella recovery frames while the bosses & enemies could move instantly. If she could move faster, this game would've been a lot more enjoyable. I understand they were going for the DS1 gameplay style. I was doing two save games side by side, the leveled playthrough & the no damage playthrough this game is significantly easier level'd(obviously xD) I rarely died. Also, a small nitpick I don't like how frequent it is to encounter enemies with hyperarmor & absurd tracking. Some of the combat against the enemies feels absolutely miserable, especially as you move into the endgame. The exploration & some of the bosses we're really good, though. This game is a 8/10 for me. Refine some of the enemies to be fairer & more fun to fight. I can't think of any enemy's that were enjoyable to fight in this game, more opportunities to strike, more recovery for enemies & bosses, tone down the tracking, fix the hitboxes, hitboxes should be on the portion of the body that's attacking the whole body shouldn't be the hitbox and less health for aggressive enemy types and or mage archetypes they shouldn't be tanky. That's all. If they announce any DLC for this game, I'll return with jubilation.

Its easily one of the finest Souls-like experiences I’ve played, and id put it side by side with Bloodborne. Its definitely one of the best releases in the last five years. The level design is incredibly detailed, with well thought interconnections and no empty spaces. Boss difficulty averages around 8.5/10, providing a satisfying challenge. Visually, the game is also pretty, easily a 9/10 in terms of atmosphere and appearance.

Didnt have any issues with the performance. 3080ti, i7 10800kf, 32GB

Walked up to a shrine after a boss fight while on almost no health, activated it. Didn't notice the blood smear on the ground in front of it. It grew arms, grabbed me, threw me down, got up, and elbow dropped my ass straight to the afterlife.

10/10

First of all, about performance: minimum requisites are NOT enough. Tried it and had really bad performance, basically unplayable. Switched to a system better than the recommended and got no performance issues afterwards.

Once played with no performance issues, I liked it.

Gameplay is cool, even though some parts are really difficult, its satisfying when you make it through.

Visuals are good, but reshaders made it amazing.

Devs fucked the entire plot of the game due to presure from offended chinese nationalists. Altering and censoring a videogame bought by more than a million people to appease the butthurt is completely unacceptable.

Great game. Great lore. Great combat. Amazing world building and level design. Great levelling up system for the character and weapons. Had no optimisation issues on my end. Lots of great bosses, and gives you the ability to respec for free. Doesn't hold your hand for side quests so remember to read the items received and put two and two together.

Just beat the game. Loved it. Great scenery, a wide variety of bosses varying in difficulty levels, extremely satisfying to complete this game.
SPOILER FREE REVIEW AFTER 100%:
I will mostly be addressing things that I've been seeing a lot in other reviews that I believe to be either incorrect or greatly exaggerated.
This games biggest fault is not having "From Software" appear when booting up the game. If it did people would tout it as "yet another From Soft masterpiece".

Performance:
Elden Ring and it's dlc both ran worse at launch than this. But that didn't seem to impact either's review scores. No, your gtx 1080 probably can't run this game well. Just as it can't run any other game that has come out in 2024 onward. It has occasional UE5 stutters but that's it. But it is very rare compared to most UE5 games. Ran at a solid 70~ fps in 4k at mid settings. (DLSS was enabled ofc as is needed with most modern games unless you play at lower resolutions or have a super juicer gpu)

Commander Honglan:
Less than 50% of players took her down. She is a early game skill check. I mention her here since I was warned about her before playing, and saw numerous steam and reddit posts crying about her. People were convincing others not to buy this game because of her. This boss shows how quickly souls fans give up once their ego's get bruised. There is no summon for her nor can you change the difficulty or cheese her. You have to get better than her. This only shows what happens when you take away crutch mechanics from a souls head. Every complaint levied against her would be considered good design if the fabled studio of the gods From Software made her. Stop crying. The fight takes 30 minutes of trying. Please don't let people who talk her up dissuade you from playing this game.

World Design:
The layout of the world felt interconnected in a way that souls game haven't been since Dark Souls 1. You are always easily able to place where you are relative to the other areas and is a far cry from the linear nature of Lies of P or even DS3. Even enemy placememt and level layout felt more akin to the early souls game which I consider to be high praise. If you enjoy the exploration aspect of souls games then this is the one for you.

Gameplay:
It moves like how I imagine Bloodborne at 60fps would. It's fast paced but gives you enough time to make decisions and even show off. Infinite respec only encourages experimentation and every weapon class felt heavenly to use with crunchy impact that makes me feel like I'm doing something. Even if I'm only doing nail clipper levels of damage. If you look at this game and think you'll enjoy it then you probably will.

"THE" Patch:
Main gameplay complaints everyone was criticizing the game for have been fixed. Healing speed is better and a non issue. Along with the knockdown iframes. Also, elevators are now faster. Though the story changes and censorship do suck. We aren't losing some Shakespearean tale and it seems people hate the idea/motive of the actions taken rather than the actions themselves. Let's be honest though. You're playing a souls game for good gameplay and bosses. If you want the story you know you're going to boot up a youtube video about it anyway. Just as you did for every other souls game. Though it does have actual story telling much like Lies of P so you can easily follow along. It's good, but remaining spoiler free the changes made to appeal to the Chinese nationalists who will never even play the game do suck and was a overall stupid decision. Like I said. People seem to hate the act of it more than what was actually done. HOWEVER, the severity of the censorship is a bit overblown.

Madness:
Demon Soul's has a similar mechanic and one that is honestly far harsher. But no one complains about DeS since most souls fans have only played two of the games. It does it better than Demon's Souls and was a non issue. Though both punish players who don't know how the system works. Late game high madness honestly felt more beneficial. The extra damage you take is not as extreme as people make it out to be nor will it ever prevent you from learning a boss.

Tl:Dr:
This and Lies of P have the best gameplay and feel of any souls game out there as of now. Both games encourage you to be flashy and use the abilities you worked to unlock. Every non FS souls game has to work hard to prove itself to the pretentous fanbase that is the modern souls community. This is among the greats imo. If you can run Elden Ring you can run this. There are some "gooner" outfits but beyond that the game is far more modest than some make it out to be. Stop listening to clip farmers. Stop dogpiling and think for yourself.

9/10

I enjoyed this game very much, and would recommend it to friends. The combat is very fun, and the variety of levels and enemies was great to explore and enjoy. I hope we see a dlc or new title from this group in the future.
